After five minutes with Jana Webb it’s easy to see why the sports world loves her. Not only does the Canadian-born athlete exude her passion for her business but she also gets results. A lifelong athlete and skilled yoga practitioner, Jana developed JOGA; an athletic based style of yoga that speaks to the athletic mind and athletic body. Incorporating a unique blend of postures and breathing techniques, JOGA helps find balance in strength and flexibility and improves breath control and recovery.

After stumbling upon yoga while nursing her own injury, Jana trained in Tokyo to become an Ishta certified yoga instructor. Wanting to bridge the gap between fitness and yoga, she developed a number of sport specific programs including Yoga for Golfers and Yoga for Runners before developing the JOGA program. Now aiming to help other health professionals achieve their goals, Jana has developed a certification program that offers yoga instructors, physiotherapists, athletic therapists and strength coaches to become Joga certified. The rehabilitation and pre-rehabilitation components of the program have spearheaded the most recent partnership with Physiomed Health.

Jana’s competitive and athletic background influenced her teaching methods and attracted a very specific type of cliental. Although she continues to teach in a studio setting with private clients from all backgrounds, she has found her niche market in the realm of high performance and elite athletes. Olympic Athletes and Professional Athletes all over North America in the NHL, NFL, MLB, NBA and CFL are practicing Joga. Amrit Singh has been studying and practicing acupuncture for over nine years. She is passionate about the field and is always working to increase her skill set and contribute world-class, patient-specific care. She began her journey by completing her Diploma of Acupuncture at the Institute of Traditional Medicine in Toronto, after which she extended her studies in Beijing, Tokyo, San Francisco and New York.

Locally she also studied and apprenticed with Takamasa Tsurusaki R.Ac, an internationally recognized Acupuncturist & Educator of the Kiiko Matsumoto style. Through this apprenticeship, Amrit honed her abilities in a style of Acupuncture is known for its precise diagnosis, gentle needling techniques and effective method of treatment blending western medical principles with eastern ideologies for quick results.

Recently, she has also received her certification in Sports Acupuncture with Whitfield Reaves. This knowledge has allowed her to practice precise muskulo-skeletal diagnosis and orthopedic muscle testing in the clinic and on-site at sporting events. Through this work, Amrit has widened her knowledge base on treating pain and has helped many people surpass their competition goals and increase recovery from injuries and accidents of all kinds.

Amrit also practices Acupuncture to help patients with other issues, including digestive problems, allergies, stress, fertility & gynecological concerns and also specializes in acupuncture during pregnancy, postpartum care, and labour. In addition, Amrit has trained specifically in Mei Zen Cosmetic Acupuncture, which takes a unique approach to focus on balancing the internal body with a lifting facial protocol to create optimal, long-lasting results.

She enjoys working with her patients on all levels, from making lifestyle and nutritional recommendations to answering her patient’s questions during treatments. “I want my patients to feel comfortable and have an understanding of what is occurring with their body and why. I truly believe this is an important step towards better health.”

Amrit is a fully insured, Registered Acupuncturist with the College of Traditional Chinese Medicine Practitioners and Acupuncturists of Ontario (CTCMPAO) and is certified in Clean Needle Technique. Spinning instructor Anouk Malavoy has been training clients for eight years and highly recommends working out while pregnant, according to The Star. She also just happens to be eight-and-a-half months pregnant herself and she has yet to show any signs of slowing down. Will she inspire more moms-to-be to exercise or just make us feel guilty about that extra bowl of ice cream every night?

I will be the first to admit that when I was pregnant with my daughter, my workout regimen consisted entirely of walking to and from the fridge: I blame it mostly on the fog and morning sickness of the first trimester that set the tone of moving as little as possible, but also there was that nagging worry of hurting the baby. As she explained to The Star, she had the same worries during her first pregnancy as do many other pregnant women who consider working out with a baby on board.

Looking back I definitely regret that I did not work out more while I was pregnant, perhaps my post-baby body would need less work if I had. I think the second time around –if there ever is one– will definitely be different. I will be less afraid of the pregnancy itself and already on my feet running around after my first little one.[/fusion_text]
